Welcome Message

Welcome to Body-Prep Dance: Foundations

After years of working with patients and clients in the field of dance, we have noticed that we always end up educating and helping people get back to the same "Foundations". Foundations seem to be a lost art in rehabilitation, training, and sport, as society focuses on quicker, better, faster in all aspects of their life. Technology changes, etc.., but our bodies are still designed to work the same as it did on the day we were born.

With all the information out there to be Googled and YouTubed, the PRINCIPLES of movement and exercise are hard to find, tending to be buried or lost. When we don't understand the details of what is supposed to happen in our bodies - it is hard to know, feel, and perform or teach exercises or activities without stepping over the line of "Oops! That didn't feel so good".

We've crammed so much information into this course. We wanted to give you all the necessary information to start creating the correct foundations for a strong and supple dancer!

The Dance Foundations course was designed to focus on the important pillars of the body's movement. It should be completed in it's entirety for the best results. When we skip to the parts we THINK we need, and ignore pieces of information, it's a lot like cheating on a test - you might get an A but you'll have no idea how to apply the information later in life! So we encourage you to review all the phases of foundations as the concepts will all build on one another.

For those who have met us - you know how we love to talk! We have edited and trimmed out ALMOST every useless sentence in this course - so please do read the material and watch ALL the videos.

WATCHING VIDEOS WON'T CHANGE YOUR BODY!

This course is really "hands on". You need to get off your chair and work through these lessons! All the material will sound "great" but if there is no personal application, you won't walk away with any "positive" change :)

In each phase, we have included concepts and principles that will help to round out the principles you should know and own, so you can make the best decisions for your own body in every situation you find yourself. We recommend trying to spend a month working through each phase.

Concept of the Month: These are on common topics regarding how your body works and learns. They are designed to make you more aware, and get you asking questions about how you may have addressed body issues in the past.

Principle of the Month: These are IMPORTANT. They outline a mindset that is necessary to get changes in your body. So please don't ignore them!

We've made a workbook for you to download and to help you work through the course, remember the important points, jot down notes so you can remember key points in the exercises that work for you, and also track your progress!

We've attached a list of the equipment that is recommended for this course in the appendix of the workbook. There are modifications listed that can be used instead, but sometimes the real deal will give you a better result if you are struggling with "feeling" an exercise.

Also, we know this might sound redundant, but this is an online course – so an internet connection is necessary. You'll not be able to download the video material (for copyright reasons), so a WIFI connection is preferable so you don't get dinged with a huge phone bill for data consumption :)

Enjoy :)
